Delta-9-THC was found to be partially metabolized to 11-hydroxy-THC and alpha,10 alpha-epoxy-hexahydrocannabinol together with 1,2-epoxy-hexahydrocannabinol. Cannabidiol was found to be partially metabolized to 9α-hydroxy-HHC and 8-hydroxy-iso-HHC within the body. In the presence of alcohol, methoxy or ethoxy analogs such as 9-methoxy-HHC, 10-methoxy-HHC, 9-ethoxy-HHC and 10-ethoxy-HHC can be formed. People with a fast metabolism process substances such as HHC more quickly than people with a slow metabolism, leading to lower concentrations of HHC soon after use.
There are no published studies on the efficacy or safety of HHC in humans, but that hasn't stopped some manufacturers from producing and selling HHC products. Although, anecdotally, some users claim that HHC and delta-8 THC produce similar effects, HHC and delta-8 THC are two different chemical compounds.
